As we are closing our recruitment period- it is a wonderful time to ask members the questions: Why did you join SNPhA? What does SNPhA mean to you?

Because they are awesome, some of our members took the time to answer these questions for me.

To me, being a healthcare professional means ensuring that everyone has access to high quality, affordable care— SNPhA’s leaders and members constantly strive to address the ever-changing needs of an ever-changing national community, and I have learned so much about how pharmacists can contribute to positive health outcomes through clinical practice and patient education. — Kelly Hu, SNPhA President, PY3

As time passed however, SNPhA became a second family… It’s helped me develop as a professional student, and has refined my interpersonal and clinical skills. — Erin Wei, Historian, PY3

I was intimidated by the older students but I felt really welcomed by the PY3s in SNPhA at that time and felt like they really wanted to hear my opinions when I worked with them for projects and committees. — Yue Dong, PY4

I have gotten to meet a lot of interesting individuals not only on the local level but nationally as well. I have been able to expand my pharmaceutical network while serving the underserved. SNPhA to me means helping those who may not always be able to help themselves. It is caring for the less fortunate in your community while getting to implement the clinical skills we are learning in pharmacy school. — Patrick Kurunwune, PY2, Pharmacy Council Representative

SNPhA provides opportunities for students to give back to the community and gain an array of skills that are valuable in their educational, professional, and personal lives. SNPhA provides the opportunity to see healthcare through so many different lenses. The encouraged diversity and community-based experiences provides students with an opportunity to become culturally competent and better equipped to best serve patients of all backgrounds. —Darryl Lewis, National President-Elect, PY2
